Defender Amber Roberts has announced her departure from Oxford United Women.
Amber Roberts has today announced her decision to leave Oxford United Women.
The 21-year-old defender joined the U’s from Reading in 2017 ahead of the WSL 2 Spring Series and made a total of 24 appearances over a 3-year spell at the club.
Blighted by injuries – including a concussion and a severely broken back – Roberts’ time at the U’s wasn’t always an easy one. However, she persevered through every setback, and showed great heart and resilience, to be able to put the yellow shirt on once again.
She had shown notable growth during her time at United, particularly last season, and her presence will be missed on the pitch and in the dressing room by her teammates.
In a statement, Roberts said: “Tough decision leaving this club. Just want to say thank you to all the staff and players at Oxford United Women for the last 3 seasons and especially Julie Lacroix for getting me back playing after my spine injury. Big love and good luck with the season.”
Her departure follows the exits of Georgia Timms and Clifford, who both left the club last month.
Thanks for everything and wishes for the future, Amber.
